Hello Memetic Drifters! This is Elodie Glass, a friend of the blog. I hope you’ve been enjoying it as much as I have!
I first met Em on Twitter. Almost immediately, we realized that as we both live in the same city, the most logical progression was to drink some drinks together. We drank the drinks and recognized kindred spirits. Soon I had collected her friend Becky as well! It’s a great case study of Internet meetings leading to some productive, weird and wonderful collaborations.
So here is a guest post in the style of an Illustrated Compendium of Search Terms, which is something that I do for my own blog. (Don’t bother trying to figure out what my blog is about – I still don’t know.) All of the quotes below are actual search terms that people used to find Memetic Drift. I have done my best to help them find what they were looking for through the immortal medium of MS Paint. The results are astonishing – in part because I am not familiar with Pokeymons or The Avengerers, and in part because the people who found this blog through Google are really weird.
“little blue pokemon looking creature”
.
“Looks like wasp but no sound”
.
“most fierce nudibranch”
.
.
“evil looking bird”
“marvel hawkeye represents determination”
UM. EXCUSE YOU.
I THINK you will find that marvel hawkeye does NOT represent determination. I know this because I am an expert on marvel hawkeye. I saw “the Avengers movie” ONCE and I almost paid attention to it, and I would 50% recognize him if I saw him again. I have also seen the Internet, which has allowed me absorb vast amounts of information on the symbolic nature of mr. marvel hawkeye. This vast amount of research has made me an expert, as I have already said, and will say again, over and over, until you recognize my Geek Cred Card.
marvel hawkeye represents the booty.
“what’s inspirational about women in science”
It depends on whom you ask. If you ask, for example, the Media, as represented by anyone with a degree in journalism talking about science:
If you ask the people who create science culture:
If you ask practicing women in science:
if you ask mr marvel hawkeye what is inspirational about women in science:
.
“how cell eat”
.
“”why do things get weirder the more you think about them””
.
“if given a sweet to cat, what will happen”
NEVER DO THIS! NEVER GIVEN SWEET TO CAT!!!!! CAT WILL UNCAT.
Elodie blogs convincingly at Elodie Under Glass. Her Illustrated Compendia of Search Terms for her own blog can be found here and here.
I am sorry, but Mr Marvel Hawkeye is not the best thing you have ever drawn. How Cell Eat is the best thing you have ever drawn. Possibly the best thing anyone has ever drawn.

This is the most delightful thing I have actually laughed aloud at while reading, ever. Or at least lately.
